Okay, yes, we lost 3 talented guys in Hampton/Wegher/Robinson. And one mega-talented guy named Paki. Last but not least Brad Rogers' health is still a question mark.
But the answer is actually deeper than that.
Let's take a close look at these RB's.
Coe: Yes he could be another Nick Bell. That would be great, let's all smile. But Coe is a freak athlete and Kirk loves versatility. Coe could just as easily play linebacker or somewhere along the D-Line.
Canzeri: Awesome RB potential no doubt. But his youtube defensive highlight reel says he could be a starter in the defensive backfield.
Damon Bullock: People assume he isn't even being considered for the RB position. WRONG! 247 rates him as a better RB than Canzeri. Yet, with his size and speed he'd make a great safety or linebacker.
Torrey Campbell: Everyone knows he is headed for the defensive backfield. Yet, Scout rates him as a better RB than Canzeri or Bullock.
Mika'il McCall: He is the most ready right now to see the field and may turn out to be the best RB of the bunch. If he doesn't lock down the position he might play some fullback in addition to running back.

Basically all 5 guys mentioned have the tools to excel at positions OTHER than RB. And THAT's why we took so many. With these five Kirk has an emergency fix for DEPTH issues in the future. Each of them has that special ANTHONY HITCHENS quality. And in Kirk's Universe, that is very important.
